One of the World’s Most Inquisitive Tester is an Indian

No, not me!

James Bach published a post mentioning that his vote for the World's Most Inquisitive Tester is for Shrini Kulkarni and I am proud, he is from India. The moment I read that post from James, I took my mobile phone outside my pocket, dialled Shrini Kulkarni's number and congratulated him for the appreciation he got and for the challenges he gives to testers through his questions. He hadn't gone through the post before I did, so I was the first to congratulate him and I am happy about that.

Shrini and I have had a lot of cold arguments and moments in the past but somehow I have built good respect for him. He challenges testers with a lot of questions and I love being challenged with tough testing questions because that too helps me become a better tester.

Here is a recent example of a post from Shrini which I thought is a good way to practice brainstorming of test ideas and enjoyed working on the exercise. So, for those who don't pay attention to his blog are missing something.

Thanks Pradeep for your kind words. It is indeed a great honour to be given that kind of comment from our guru James Bach.

This brings a specific sets of challenges - I should live upto the expectations of James. This has raised my own quality bar regaring my work and writings in testing.

Let us together spread the message of sapient testing in india and in the world.

Make India and the world better place to test.

Pradeep,

Since you do a lot of surfing, reading on testing why don't you start one like this for testing

" Planet Perl is an aggregation of Perl blogs from around the world. Its an often interesting, occasionally amusing and usually Perl related view of a small part of the Perl community. Posts are filtered on perl related keywords. The list of contributors changes periodically. You may also enjoy Planet Parrot or Planet Perl Six for more focus on their respective topics. "

Why dont you aggregate and maintain a site of all blogs??????

@Anonymous,

I think you should go through www.testingreflections.com which already has a collection of blogs from experts.

"World’s Most Inquisitive Tester is an Indian "

This statement would have been correct if it was "One of World’s Most Inquisitive Tester is an Indian"

Since there are many inquisitive testers whom James Bach would not have met or come accross.

Atleast you should have thought about it .....

@Anonymous,

The title was to grab attention of people to go through the post and those who go through the post would then know that James Bach's vote for Most Inquisitive Tester is for Shrini, who is an Indian.

James Bach's vote - it means to me that he could vote for people with whom he has interacted or worked.

However, you helped me learn something and hence I wish to re-title but I guess if I re-title - all the comments would be gone.

Hi Pradeep,

I am here with a challenge to you.
When i saw James Bach's list of people's recommendations your name was not there
The challenge is can you come up in testing with such great ideas, articles, researches, methodologies.......... so that he can put your name in the recommended people's list?????

Will you accept my challenge?????

@Anonymous,

I am already in the list of people whom James recommends. My name might not be in the list you might have seen.

I don't work to get my name in some list because my primary goal is to make a better community and help testers test and think better and *not* get a great name.

Cem Kaner is a great example of a man who has put in a lot of effort for the community and has been helping the worldwide testing community without bothering if he gets finds his name in any list.

I am inspired by that and I am sure the whole world should be inspired by such a great work of Dr Kaner.

Hi Pradeep,

Its always nice to know that an INDIAN is being selected by James Bach, really feel proud for Shrini.

But there are still so many more testers in INDIA that are trully very talanted but are not able to showcase their real talent due to many reasons (like egoisim, dirty politics or who do not have the luxury of good work environment, freedom...etc etc)

I am happy that people like you, shrini and many more are doing this great work in bringing out real talents in testers in INDIA and world wide.

I always spead this phrase to my fellow testers "Truth is Beauty; Testing is Truth" (quote)...

If one is not able to demonstrate his/her skills or talent and help the community, I am convinced that they are not talented.

I share and help other testers to test better through my blog, workshops, podcasts, lectures and interaction - not because I am an expert but because I want to become one such and these are the ways that has been helping me. Do you think I live in a different world which has no ego, freedom, or anything you mentioned or wanted to mention?

Its all about passion for this craft of software testing that brings out the talent in one and not the environment.

Hi Pradeep,

Thats right we all do live in the same world.

"If one is not able to demonstrate his/her skills or talent and help the community, I am convinced that they are not talented."... as you rightly mentioned in this world if they get an oppurtunity then ofcourse they are talented.

It ultimatlly boils down to PASSION and to be very specific 'PASSION towards TESTING'.

I feel i am fortunate to be one amongest this great testing commuity.

Opportunities do not knock at a door, opportunities are created by those who want to live in such an opportunity.

I got in touch with James Bach, took his challenges and convinced him to teach me more and since then the opportunities I have had is enormous. When I say opportunities I mean "learning opportunities".

I interacted with a tester who thinks he is a good tester but fears to get in touch with James because he thinks James might ask for money to teach him. To interrupt, he is an Indian and he blogs, too.

I too could have had that fear and not have contacted him at all but for me my passion to learn and become a better tester stood first and James blessed me his time and coached me. He has given me money through work that he gave me and not charged me anything yet. He also hired me.

How does that sound?

Hi Pradeep,

Thats sounds great.....

Hence the underlying is that it all depends on how much you would want to lean and to what extent you goto achieve that.
